| The Chenango County Sheriff's Office participates in the nationwide "ChildSafe Project" that helps ensure safe and responsible firearms ownership and storage. Through this program the Sheriff's Office received a large quantity of "free" gun locking devices from a federal grant. The goal of project "ChildSafe Project" and the Chenango County Sheriff's Office is to prevent a loaded gun from being left unattended in a place where a child may find it. The "Free" gun locking devices are available at the Chenango County Sheriff's Office at 279 County Route 46, Norwich Ny. The "Free" gun locks maybe picked up Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm. The "Free" gun locks are also available to any non-profit youth organization and/or Hunters Safety Instructors within Chenango County, upon request to the Sheriff's Office at # (607)-337-1864. |
