Corrections Division

The Correctional Facility has a maximum capacity of 133 inmates. It contains 5 Housing Units. Each housing unit contains it’s own day room, laundry, program room & exercise yard. The Corrections Division is the largest division in the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office. In 2007, The Chenango County Sheriff's              Office - Corrections Division received accreditation by the New York State Accreditation Board.

LIST OF ITEMS INMATES MAY RECEIVE/ INCOMING PACKAGES

Inmates will be allowed to receive the following items in incoming packages.

ITEMS MUST BE PURCHASED FROM AND MAILED TO THE FACILITY BY A COMPANY WHOSE ORDINARY BUISNESS INCLUDES THE SALE AND SHIPPING OF SUCH ITEMS:

• 1 Wedding band (no stones or protrusions)
• 5 paperback books and/ or magazines
• Bible
• Legal books and legal materials
• Religious articles: (Rosary Beads, Kufi, Prayer Beads, Yarmulke, Tefillin, Religious metals on chains (chains not to exceed 18 inches in length, not to exceed $50.00 in value, have no stones or protrusions, not to exceed 2" in diameter), prayer robe, Guthra, prayer rug, Talit, Talit Katan
• Current newsstand publications excluding newspapers which are provided by the facility for inmate use
• Non-Polaroid, unaltered photographs only (no Polaroids will be allowed)
• Clothing items:
• 3 white sports bras (females only)
• 2 pair white long johns (shirts and bottoms)
• Clothing items will have the inmate's name clearly written in black permanent magic marker by the receiving Officer.  This will ensure your clothing doesn't become confused with another inmate's property.
• Clothing for inmate's court appearance (only when court ordered)
• 1 pair of eye glasses or contact lenses and their case
• 1 pair dentures
